Sedai, an innovative US-based autonomous cloud platform, initiated operations with an ambitious mission - to make life easier for site reliability engineers. They've garnered significant acclaim since their inception, including being named a Gartner Cool Vendor in 2022, and securing Series A funding of 15 million USD the same year.



In the wake of this rapid growth, the Vice President of Marketing at Sedai approached us to reimagine the brand’s digital presence, from website to brand identity. The existing identity system needed to be scaled to align with how the brand is evolving and reflect on the website, social media or offline event collateral. 



The primary challenge we faced was comprehending the full scope and impact of Sedai's platform. This meant immersing ourselves in the technical aspects of the platform, understanding its revolutionary nature within the tech industry, and comprehending how it set itself apart from other market leaders. The task was daunting, but it was essential to create a branding strategy that would accurately represent Sedai's advanced cloud services.



Moreover, as a rapidly growing startup, Sedai was frequently making updates to their website. This necessitated a dedicated team of designers and developers to ensure timely implementation. Instead of a traditional agency-client dynamic, we operated as an integrated extension of Sedai's marketing team. This approach fostered a robust, long-term partnership.

Customer-centric approach to shaping the Identity of a Cloud Platform Leader

We refocused Sedai’s brand architecture on what we know they cared most about: the customer, the product and the experience. With it came a more dynamic brand personality that directed the marketing team to speak truly as people who are here to make a difference in Cloud Automation and improve the workflows of Site Reliability Engineers everywhere. To maintain Sedai's momentum without interfering with their ongoing marketing activities, we implemented a phased approach for our experience design. Curved elements, lightweight typography and smooth gradients with the newly created custom assets elevated the overall feel of the website while allowing content to shine. The Webflow development team adopted an agile methodology and worked closely with the design and marketing teams to prioritise releases. Our intention was to make the best use of Webflow’s inbuilt features and go beyond its limitations to introduce custom solutions on the website – one such instance was the ROI calculator which had to be built from scratch and integrated into the Webflow system.

The brand blueprint encompassed a fresh colour palette, distinctive fonts and typographical elements, and a series of custom-illustrated assets and icons. The full brand system was designed on Figma and later updated on Canva to make it easier for internal teams to operate. For Illustrations we explored different ways to effectively communicate all the complex tech solutions that Sedai offers in simple ways. We went a step further, bringing Sedai's octopus mascot, Seddy, to life through 3D motion graphics. This playful element infused a unique character into Sedai's marketing communication. Our collaboration with Sedai served as a testament to our ability to engage effectively across teams, sustain client engagement, and orchestrate a comprehensive digital transformation that authentically embodied Sedai's brand positioning. The result was an enhanced online presence that we were all truly proud of, a presence reflective of Sedai's pioneering role in the autonomous cloud industry.
